The Merlin Bay 6 - Firefly property offers travelers a wonderful space in which to enjoy a Barbados vacation. Just a short walk to the beach, it provides a long list of premium amenities and services in a residential-style setting of unusual charm and good looks.

Situated in the Merlin Bay community, this villa provides guests with the use of a large, free-from pool open only to members or guests of the community. There is also a private beach access through a charming path in the grounds, and guests may use the private beachside shower as well.

In the villa itself, travelers enjoy the attentive services of their private cook who prepares three meals daily in the large and modern kitchen. There is also housekeeping and house management that ensures all your needs are met. Then there is the utterly private and charming plunge pool. Tucked into an elegant and enchanting little courtyard, it is surrounded by tropical plants and its own palms swaying above.

Framed by a terra cotta terrace, it offers space to lounge or dine by the water. Through the elegant, arched doors you enter the beautiful great room. With a pale palette accented with warm, tropical floral textiles and a blend of sage green and apricot décor, it features the sunken living room that steps up to the dining room area, and then meets the wonderful gourmet kitchen.

There are three large and appealing bedrooms in the villa as well. One features a large terrace with small dining niche, and the rest feature pool area access or private balconies with sea views. All offer you a luxurious king bed and large, private bath.

The many amenities, features and services of the Merlin Bay 6 - Firefly make it a wonderful find. With its amazing location and array of private living spaces, it is an idyllic family or group retreat.

In Summer, for cancellations greater than 61 days prior to arrival, 15% of the gross rental is forfeited. Cancellation 60 days or less, 100% of gross rental is forfeited. Please note all Christmas and New Years reservations are non-refundable.

For new bookings travel dates in 2020 and 2021, the property manager is modifying the booking policy as follows :
~ 30% deposit / Balance due 45 days prior to arrival
~ Festive Period: 50% deposit / Balance due 75 days prior to arrival

For new bookings travel dates in 2020 and 2021, the property manager is modifying the cancellation policy as follows :
~ If guests cancel the reservation more than 30 days prior to the arrival, 15% of the Gross Rental will be forfeited.
~ If guests cancel the reservation within 30 days of the arrival date, 100% of the Gross Rental will be forfeited and kept as a voucher credit for travel within 12 months from original booked date at the same villa.
~ If guests cancel the reservation falling within the Festive Season, 100% of the Gross Rental will be forfeited or kept as a voucher credit for travel within 12 months from original booked date in the same villa.

The Covid-19 Modified Cancellation Policy is applicable in the event that :

1. The Barbados government refuses passengers’ entry based on their origin (whether by residence, recent travel to a particular destination, or based on flight origin).
2. A Foreign government issues a specific travel ban to or from Barbados that prevents a guest from traveling.
3. A Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) Advisory against Barbados must exist.

Common Questions
Do we share the villa? click to close
No. You will not share the villa with another party. The villa is exclusively yours. If a larger villa offers a lower bedroom rate category, the villa will remain exclusively yours but the unrented bedrooms will be locked off.
For example, a 5 bedroom villa that offers a 3 bedroom rate will be the exclusive use of the guest but two bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms will be locked off. Capacity is capped at 2 guests per bedroom.

Yes. Barbados Blue stands behind you throughout your entire vacation. Unlike other companies, each property we offer has been hand picked to ensure that our standards are met. All property managers are vetted and payments are required to be held in escrow. Our primary obligation is to ensure your satisfaction and to have an exceptionally memorable vacation.

Once a reservation request is received, Barbados Blue will request a contract from the property manager for your dates of interest. Once the dates are confirmed and contract is received from the property manager, a payment will be required to confirm your reservation.
Once a reservation is confirmed, a concierge will welcome you to the planning stages of your vacation to assist with arrival logistics, rental cars, transfers, and a host of concierge services.
Can we arrange an early check in? click to open
Early check in may be possible but is at the sole discretion of the property manager. Early check in permission may not be granted until 24 hours prior to arrival.
Can we arrange a late check out? click to open
A late check out is rarely granted due to the turnover needs of a villa. A late check out may only be granted 24 hours prior to your departure from the property and only when there is no check in scheduled on the day of your check out. If a late check out is urgently needed please contact us.
Are transfers to the property included? click to open
Select villas may include a one way or roundtrip airport transfer while others may provide an escort or meeting point. Arrival logistics will be handled by your dedicated concierge as well as other concierge needs. The property's transfer policy will be listed under the Policies section.
What to expect upon arrival? click to open
In general, a villa orientation will be provided along with a key turnover. During the orientation, information and instructions for the property will be provided. Emergency contact information will be provided. We are available 7 days a week to assist with any urgent needs.
The arrival procedures due vary from villa to villa, select villas may include welcome provisioning while other properties will provide basic arrival information.

Since these vacation homes are one of a kind properties, the cancellation policy is strict. We highly recommend considering trip/travel insurance to protect against any unexpected cancellations or issues that may arise.

What happens if the property becomes unavailable after I reserve? click to open
In the unlikely event, the rented property becomes unavailable due to a major issue that may affect a guest's experience or a transfer of ownership, Barbados Blue will coordinate with the property manager to find an alternate property of equal or superior standard that is subject to the guest's approval. If an alternate property is not acceptable to the guest, the guest will receive a full refund.

Yes, we accept all major credit cards. American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted. Please note that credit card charges may be subject to additional fees. There are no fees with payment by wire transfer or check.
In the near future, we expect to accept a greater variety of payment methods and currencies via Stripe.
Is housekeeping included? click to open
Housekeeping tends to be a standard among vacation homes but the frequency may vary greatly depending on the property manager’s standards. Most properties will offer daily housekeeping (except Sunday and holidays) while other villas may only provide a mid-week cleaning. Please refer to the Policies section to learn about the housekeeping frequency of the property.

Yes. The property will provide bath and pool towels along with linens. Towels and linens will be refreshed as needed.
Are toiletries and tissues provided? click to open
A property may supply an initial supply of soap, shampoo, toilet paper and paper towels but replenishment of supplies once exhausted may be the responsibility of the guest. Each property varies in their handling of toiletries and paper products.

A hair dryer should be available at the property. Upon arrival, please check the bathrooms or closet. Typically, a hair dryer is included in each bathroom.

My husband and I plus two of our children in their 20's stayed at the Firefly Villa at Merlin Bay for a week in April. The villa is around a 10 min, drive from Holetown and within walking distance of a number of restaurants. I loved the fact that the villa had 3 BR with King-sized beds and bathrooms. Each BR had its own terrace and the Master Suite had a beautiful little terrace where we had our coffee in the morning and watched the Sea. The villa was very private and had its own plunge pool which was cleaned every day, as well as a main pool. It was also a short walk to the beautiful beach and sea.

The villa rental includes its own cook and housekeeper, both of whom were very friendly and efficient. It was nice not having to cook but the trade-off is somewhat a lack of privacy. We really like to BBQ (a small BBQ is included with the villa) and would have preferred that the Cook come for perhaps a couple of days rather than for the whole stay, but having the Housekeeper was great.

The kitchen appliances were dated and the fridge did not work properly and should be replaced. The oven was replaced during our stay.

The only downside really for us was the noise coming from the nearby villas where there were young children who started crying around 7am. Although we could not necessarily see the people staying there, we definitely could hear them and they did not make any attempt to keep quiet. I realize there was no way to avoid the noise but it did mar our experience somewhat as the noise was pretty constant.

Firefly was a perfect fit for our family of 4. The views from the second floor balconies were incredible, the back patio relaxing, the pool quiet and the beach was perfect. The swimming and snorkeling were terrific. The condo itself was suitable but could use a kitchen upgrade as the current one is very tired and a bit "sticky". The beds and pillows are tired so a person with a bad back may be quite uncomfortable. All in all, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would return.
