Villa Anchorage, Barbados. Anchorage is a single story residence and sits in its own acre/half hectare grounds at the western end of the Sandy Lane Estate just a stone's throw from the Hotel and the private Property Owners Beach. It is bright and airy and has excellent quality furnishings throughout. The house is fully alarmed which is linked to a 24 hour monitoring station.
Anchorage has a permanent Housekeeper who is an excellent cook and who will take care of your every need six days a week (sadly you have to fend for yourselves on Sundays). She will prepare breakfast and a light lunch (other meals by arrangement) as well as taking care of all the laundry including personal items.
Geoffrey is our dedicated Gardener who keeps the grounds in immaculate condition. Thursdays is mowing day so it's advisable not to have too much to drink on Wednesday evening otherwise it could be - "oh my head!".
The spacious vaulted Living Room is a blend of old Barbados mahogany furniture & coral stone with the more modern bamboo. The security louver shutters, which open fully on the North & South sides, give the room the feeling of total openness as either way the view is of the luscious gardens. The marble dining table seats twelve and is ideal for formal entertaining.
There is a small TV room off the Living Room which can also be used as an Office. The Direct TV channels provide CNN & BBC News, ESPN Sports, TNT & HBO and a variety of specialist programmes. The Office area has a fax/printer and a Broadband connection.
All Bedrooms are fully air-conditioned. The large master bedroom is furnished with a king sized bed, with double basin en suite bathroom with large shower. The second and third bedrooms offer twin beds, which can be zipped together to make kings. One bathroom with bath/shower opposite. The Third Bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with bath/shower.
The large, covered outdoor patio overlooks the pool and it is where most guests relax when not by the pool enjoying the Barbados sun. At one end there is a dining area with a wrought iron table that comfortably seats six, and is ideal for breakfast, lunch and informal dining in the evenings. At the other end is comfortable informal seating for eight and is the perfect setting for reading your novel out of the sun during the day and the ideal meeting place for drinks prior to meals.
The house is located in the middle of its own manicured one acre/half a hectare gardens. The lush tropical planting give guests total privacy with quiet shaded areas where one can enjoy a book, or alternatively lie by the pool perfecting the sun tan on any one of the six pool chairs.
The property boasts eighteen different species of Palms including two rare varieties, which are of great interest amongst the locals.
Less than five minutes walk or two minutes drive away from Anchorage is one of the best beaches in Barbados and this is where the Sandy Lane Property Owners Private Beach Facility is located immediately adjacent to the famous Sandy Lane Hotel. Here there is a small private Cabana, which houses a fridge for cold drinks and six beach loungers & four chairs. There are outdoor showers as well as toilet facilities. The Sandy Lane Hotel water sports facility is adjacent should you wish to water-ski or sail.

For new bookings the property manager is modifying the payment policy as follows :
~ 30% deposit due at the time of booking to confirm the reservation / 50% deposit for Christmas/New Year bookings
~ Balance due 30 days prior to arrival
For new bookings the property manager is modifying the cancellation policy as follows :
~ If guests cancel the reservation, all payments made will be forfeited and kept as a voucher credit for travel to the same villa for up 12 months from the original arrival date. No refund will be offered.
The Covid-19 Modified Cancellation Policy is applicable in the event that :
1. The Barbados government refuses passengers’ entry based on their origin (whether by residence, recent travel to a particular destination, or based on flight origin).
2. A Foreign government issues a specific travel ban to or from Barbados that prevents a guest from traveling.
3. A Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) Advisory against Barbados must exist.

After a delayed arrival, we were so relieved and happy to see Ernesta's warm and smiling face when we arrived! She was incredibly kind and prepared a late (and very delicious) dinner for us all - it was quite a welcoming and a wonderful start to our vacation. Not to mention that the dinner and all subsequent meals were laid out on the gorgeous veranda overlooking the trees and pool - we felt like we were in our very own hidden oasis! Every day was beautiful at the house, and our son loved watching the green monkeys pass through the property! We felt so safe and relaxed. Another bonus is the access to the Sandy Lane Property Owners beach club, which is next to the Hotel's beach and very well kept. The bartender there, Doreen, is a hoot. Plenty of gorgeous golf kept the boys happy, so we'll definitely be returning - hopefully for a longer period of time!
We have just got back from a lovely stay at Anchorage. The villa is excellent for privacy with loads of space both inside and out. These were the two things we craved for the most and we weren't disappointed. Ernesta cooked us several lovely meals and both her and Geoffrey the gardener were lovely. Having the beach so close to was an added bonus as we didn't need to use the car that much at all.
